| | sustainable gardening. Because we are also active in the realm of education and promoting environmental awareness volunteers may help with these type of projects and activities as well. In addition to the above- mentioned goals our farm in particular focuses on teaching volunteers about living as part of a sustainable community. If we hope to find more sustainable ways of continuing to exist in a rapidly changing world, we all must begin to see ourselves as interconnected with our environment, and with one another.
Come assist us in founding a community-based education center based on service learning. Currently we have 33 acres of old growth jungle, 7 acres are under various degrees of cultivation. We focus on biodynamic stacked poly-culture and terraced vegetable gardens. Be part of transplanting, harvesting, weeding, landscaping, nursery care and other farm work. Volunteers share a community kitchen area and all are expected to help with cooking, cleaning, and carrying water. Education is key here so you may be helping with workshops, school presentations, or the Arizona Community Preschool. You will be expected to do farm work four to six hours a day, depending on which program you choose. Thursdays and Fridays are days off and Saturdays are a workshop day, check the schedule to see what's coming up. On your days off you are encouraged to leave the farm to see Belize. If you choose to remain at the Center you may pay the daily fee for each day you choose to stay and cook your own meals in the community kitchen. If you venture out you will not be charged for the day.
