Rain Forest Medicines Walk-shop
Learn about the many natural Rain Forest medicines around you as we take a leisurely stroll through our Rain
Forest preserve. We will show you over 80 different medicines and then choose the ten most commonly used
medicines to focus on.

Herbal Teas Walk-shop
Stroll the farm and nearby Rain Forest preserve while collecting various native herbal teas. Back at the
Community kitchen we will prepare a tea fresh and assist you in curing the other teas you have gathered to take
home.

Natural Soap Making
We will teach you about the basics of soap making. Learn how to create traditional hand and body soaps as well
as delicate glycerin soaps, infused with natural essential oils, herbs, or crushed pumice and sand grains. We
will then cure the soap and you will be able to take some home with you.

Handmade Chocolate Processing
Learn how to create chocolate from the raw cacao seeds. You will be part of roasting, shelling, grinding and
turning the ground cacao into heavenly chocolate treats! If you love chocolate you will love this workshop! One
disclaimer, true cacao has a superior flavor and aroma to what Hershey's has popularized, so prepare your
taste buds for what has been called 'the food of the gods'

Candle Making
Learn how to create your own candles, scented or not, from natural beeswax and cotton twine. You will be
thankful for their warm light in the evenings and by adding various essential oils you an create your own scented
candles.

Terra Preta: How to Create Living Earth
The history and process of Terra Preta creation. We will walk you back through the history of this amazing
anthropogenic soil that literally grows. Learn where it came from, how it was most likely created and how we can
create our own modern version as a solution to many of the predicaments that widespread use of modern
agriculture has created.

Flint Knapping
Learn how to create stone tools from raw flint. Forest Acker, an impressive knapping artist who has practiced
flint knapping for over 20 years. He will demonstrate the process from start to finish and then give you a chance
to try your hand at it, but remember this is an dangerous art, you could seriously cut yourself or even embed
sharp flint flakes into your leg if you are not careful! So if you want to try- so so at your own risk!

Natural Cloth Weaving
Learn how to use a loom to create cloth from natural twine. Use a warping board to measure out the twine and
then load up the loom and begin weaving cloth. It is a fascinating process that can be used with a loom of any
size. This art was one Ghandi promoted in India, as he saw it as a beautiful way to intertwine art, spiritulality, and
functionality through the creation of a practical daily use item.

Yoga
Participate in a group Yoga workshop where we can each share the various Asanas we know. We often have
visiting Yoga teachers who can work us through the various poses and help us achieve better balance,
alignment and general form.

Natural Crayon Making
Learn to make natural crayons form pigments and beeswax. This one is great for those volunteers who are
traveling with kids, but no one is too old to color their world with these beautiful natural crayons!!

Natural Paper Making
We will show you how to make your own paper from natural plant fibers as well as recycled paper fibers. This
paper can then be used to make beautiful gift cards, memory books, picture frames and more. Once you
understand the process you can replicate it as many times as you like to expand your project to a full scrapbook.
